September

A hazy blue sky
covered haphazardly in clouds
as the trees sway in a
slight September breeze

And the bird outside my window
tweets a sweet melody
interlaced with memories of
hotter days and the bright sunsine
of summer

But the days grow shorter
and the nights stretch farther,
a crisp chill in the air reminds me
that winter is just around the corner...
